Can I apply RTI to private bodies?

RTI is not applicable to private bodies. However if the information that you are looking for is available with any govt body then you can apply. If our experts conclude that your RTI application cannot be filed we will offer full refund.

Do you handle only Bangalore related RTIs or other cities as well?

Our head office is in Bangalore but we accept and handle RTIs for any govt in India.

Will I be informed once my RTI is applied?

Once we receive your payment, you will receive a notification via E-mail/SMS. You can also

How do I check status of my RTI?

page to get real time status of your RTI application.

When will I receive my RTI response?

RTI response is by the concerned govt authority. As per the act they are supposed to respond within 30 days but actual date varies. In our experience we have seen that central govt departments respond within 10-20 days. Offices in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra also respond within 15 days. Overall it takes 5-45 days to get your response.

How do you deliver my RTI to the respective government office?

For a smooth delivery of your application, we have tied up with department of post. Once your application is dispatched, you will be informed about the tracking details via E-mail/SMS.

How do I add more attachments?

You can go to

page and then select "Upload" tab to upload attachments. Please add only required documents, we accept max 3 attachments per RTI.

How do I approve my RTI application?

Go to

page and then browse to your RTI application. Click on the "Approve RTI" button and proceed to approval.

How do I download my RTI application?

How much time you will take to post my RTI?

Once we have received payment we usually take 2 days to process your application. If your application is not clear or missing some information then we get back to your via email or call you.

How do I get my registered post tracking details?

We will send you registered post tracking details via E-mail/SMS. You can also go to

page and then select "Status" tab. You will find the registered post details.

What is OnlineRTI's refund policy?

How long will it take to get my refund?

We take anywhere between 5-7 days to complete your refund request. The refund amount will be credited to the same account from where payment was made.

Do I have to register to apply for RTI?

No, you are not required to register at OnlineRTI.com. You can apply RTI without registration using "Continue as Guest" option. However we suggest you to create an account with us. It easier to track RTI if you create an account.

Are there any registration charges for creating account in OnlineRTI?

There are no registration charges applicable for creating an account with us. It is absolutely free of cost.

What should I do if I have trouble with logging in?
If you have trouble logging in, please follow these instructions:

• Check your login details. Your login username is the e-mail address you used for registration.

• Please make sure that your web browser accepts cookies.

• If you have forgotten your password, reset your password using the "Forgot your Password" link on the "Sign in" page.

• If you are still unable to access your account, please contact Customer Care helpdesk and indicate the problem. We will assign you with a new password, and you can change it once you log in.

Please note that sometimes the problem might be caused due to system maintenance at our end. In such a case, please wait for 30 minutes and try again.

Should I be concerned about privacy of my personal details I have shared with OnlineRTI?

Do not worry! We are absolutely committed to safeguarding your personal information. The personal information collected is done to enable us to offer you the service and to validate your identity, as well as to provide us with a way to get in touch with you if the need should arise.

What should I do if I have forgot password or my password does not work?
Do not panic. Please follow the steps mentioned below to reset your password:

• Click on 'Login/Signup' on the top right side of the onlinerti.com homepage.

• Click on the Login button and you will find "Forgot Password" link displayed on the page.

• Enter your registered e-mail id and you will receive a link to reset your password in your mailbox.

About RTI

I don't know if RTI is applicable, what do I do?

Don't worry. Please complete the RTI application process, if RTI is not applicable then we will refund your money.

My RTI problem is not listed in your drop down list. What should I do?

If your RTI is not listed then select "Other query" and proceed with your application in simple english. Our team will get back to you if we have any questions.

What can I apply RTI for?

As per section 8(1) any information which cannot be denied to member of parliament, cannot be denied to any citizen. We can apply RTI to get any recorded information which is with any govt department unless it falls under section mentioned section 8(1)(j)

Can I apply RTI to private bodies?

RTI is not applicable to private bodies. However if the information that you are looking for is available with any govt body then you can ask that.

Do you handle only Bangalore related RTIs or other cities as well?

Why do I need to provide my address?

RTI response gets delivered to the address that you provide along with your RTI application.

Why do I need to provide my phone number?
